Today we wrap up the new NVIDIA Super series graphics cards with the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER. So far, each of the Superseries we previously reviewed bumped up performance levels to the next higher SKU. In the case of the Geforce RTX 2080 Super that would be the RTX 2080 Ti. In the case of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Super, we found it falls short of the RTX 2080 Ti. As a result, a user needs to evaluate their price/ performance expectations from a single RTX 2080 Super to a RTX 2080 Ti to potentially two RTX 2080 Super cards. To the professional user, the few hundred dollar price delta between those options can be offset by increased productivity. ssdsc2kb480g801

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Super Overview

As our NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Super card is from NVIDIA, we find it looks just like the GeForce RTX 2060 Super and is slightly larger at 10.5” long x 4.556” tall. As one would expect, this is a dual-slot cooler. Let us take a quick look at the graphics card and precede on to testing.

As you can see, the green “SUPER” logo is emblazoned all over the card. You will also quickly notice that the colors have changed to more metallic looks.

Powering the device are two auxiliary power connectors. There are both 8-pin and 6-pin power inputs that need to be connected to power the GPU.

One can see three DisplayPort 1.4 ports to power your displays where a single port can drive 8K displays at 60Hz. A single HDMI 2.0b port rounds out the video outputs. Maximum display resolution reaches 7680×4320, and Multi-Monitor setups can connect 4x displays.

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Super also has a USB-C port which has become standard from NVIDIA on this generation to support next-generation XR devices.

We will again point out that this dual-fan cooler design that NVIDIA is pushing with this generation of Founders Edition cards can offer better and quieter cooling when 1-2 cards are installed in a chassis. When one moves to denser configurations, generally blower-style coolers are what one wants so you will need to look to the aftermarket for those applications.

Next, let us take a look at the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Super key specifications and continue on with our performance testing.
