Industry’s First 8Gb LPDDR4 Mobile DRAM
If u don’t know, Gigabits is the norm for measuring chip capacity, but in devices such as a smartphone, memory is measured in Gigabytes. 1 byte = 8 bits so four 8 Gb LPDDR4 chips will enable mobile manufacturers to install this magnanimous amount of RAM in a phone. ( Not that its actually very necessary).
Technically the new chips will provide 50% better performance over the existing LPDDR3 solutions. While doing this, they will also consume 40% less power. According to Samsung, the new LPDDR4 chips are manufactured using 20nm fabrication technology and this yields one Gigabyte on a single die, the highest in the industry.
Normally you would trade off performance for power consumption, or vice versa. This time around because of the jump from DDR3 to DDR4 the performance is also doubled and the operating voltage is also reduced as per the the cycle, just like in desktop DRAM.

It is only logical for Samsung to develop 4GB memory chips. With the Exynos 5 pitted to release soon and other 64 bit enabled chipsets inbound, Samsung will fulfill the growing demand of RAM from smartphone manufacturers( Except Apple).
